Private equity has completed the acquisition of Thea Energy, a renewable energy business in New Jersey, for $100 million. Thea Energy develops stellarator fusion power plants aimed at scalable baseload fusion energy, with technology focused on magnet manufacturing and an integrated fusion system. Based in Kearny, NJ, the company’s approach targets simpler-to-build hardware and higher uptime for commercial deployment, supporting renewable energy acquisition and energy deals NJ. The other acquisition is structured as an oversubscribed Series B funding round led by USIT with participation from General Innovation Capital Partners and Linse Capital, alongside existing investors including Hitachi Ventures and Lowercarbon Capital. The private equity acquisition will expand magnet capacity and fast-track construction milestones toward commercial fusion power plants.
