Maimonides Merger: NYC Health + Hospitals Deal

Maimonides Medical Center is set to merge into NYC Health + Hospitals, with the proposed agreement providing Maimonides up to $2.2 billion over five years through a state grant. The deal would also give Maimonides access to higher Medicaid reimbursement rates available to public hospitals.

The Medical Society of the State of New York has adopted a policy to protect admitting and surgical privileges of private practice physicians as a condition of any hospital merger or acquisition. The society plans to advocate for preservation of salary, benefits, and public service loan forgiveness eligibility for physicians, residents, and fellows affected by the merger.
