Announced
HealthcareDivestiture

Deal Overview

Remgro has signed an agreement to acquire full ownership of Mediclinic Southern Africa in a $950 million transaction, restructuring Mediclinic’s assets along geographic lines. The deal will divide the private hospital group’s operations by region, with Mediclinic Holdings selling its Swiss Hirslanden group to IHL while Remgro acquires all shares in the Southern Africa business.

Both legs are expected to complete simultaneously on a 1:1 value exchange basis, with cash compensation if only one part closes. The long-stop date is September 30, 2027.

After completion, Remgro and IHL will each fully control their regional segments while retaining joint interests in the Middle East through the EHH Group and in the UK via Spire Healthcare. Mediclinic Southern Africa is described as the third-largest private healthcare provider in the region by licensed beds, with operations including Intercare and ER24.
