Deal Overview

Hyatt Corporation and Austin-based investment firm Timberline Real Estate Partners acquired the decade-old South Congress Hotel and will reopen it under The Standard banner as The Standard-Austin. The property will stop operating at the end of May for a revamp, with a spring 2027 opening targeted.

The redevelopment is positioned as the first Texas location for The Standard hotels. Hyatt’s lifestyle division leader Amar Lalvani will oversee the transition, alongside Timberline Real Estate Partners. The project team also includes Guerilla Suit founder James Moody and original architect Michael Hsu, and the renovation will focus on improving street connectivity and activating underutilized areas like the central courtyard.
