SPR Therapeutics Acquired by Medtronic | Healthcare M&A Deal

Medtronic has acquired SPR Therapeutics, a medical devices business in Minnesota, for $650 million. Medtronic acquires SPR Therapeutics to expand neuromodulation with peripheral nerve stimulation technology for chronic pain management. SPR Therapeutics’ Sprint device delivers targeted stimulation via a temporary lead near the nerve, with FDA clearance and use for up to 60 days, supporting acute and chronic pain treatment in a non-permanent implant approach. The SPR Therapeutics acquisition is a strategic platform acquisition within healthcare M&A, adding an early-intervention option for physicians and building on Medtronic acquisitions in medtech. Medtronic acquisitions are expected to close in the first half of fiscal 2027, subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals.
