HealthcareAdd-on

Deal Overview

Olympus has acquired BioProtect, a medical devices business in Tokyo, for $270 million. Olympus acquisitions expand its urology and prostate cancer technology portfolio through BioProtect’s implant spacing solutions used during prostate radiation therapy. BioProtect develops the Balloon Spacer system that creates consistent spacing between the prostate and surrounding critical structures, then biodegrades after treatment to support preservation of gastrointestinal, urinary, and sexual functions. The BioProtect acquisition is a strategic acquisition and add on acquisition within healthcare M&A, with an expected close by the end of Q2 2026 subject to customary conditions and escrow amounts tied to uninterrupted operations.
