TotalEnergies Acquired | Energy M&A Deal

Announced
EnergyOther

Deal Overview

TotalEnergies has completed the acquisition of renewable energy assets in New York, a renewable energy business in the offshore wind sector, for $795 million. TotalEnergies subsidiary Attentive Energy holds the 3-GW Attentive Energy offshore wind project in the New York Bight, while the company also agreed to cancel the 1.2-GW Carolina Long Bay project offshore North Carolina for $133 million. The renewable energy acquisition was structured as an energy M&A settlement-style buyout with funds intended to be redirected toward U.S. gas and power development and exports. Seven states led by New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Vermont sued the Trump administration over the offshore wind lease cancellation, alleging an unlawful sham settlement agreement. The other acquisition is valued at $795 million and $133 million, with TotalEnergies listed as an interested party and federal agencies including the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management and the Department of Justice named in the case.
