Mountain Peak Power and Canyon Peak Power Acquired by TransAlta | Energy M&A Deal

TransAlta has completed the acquisition of Mountain Peak Power and Canyon Peak Power, a utility services business in Colorado, for $1.0 billion. TransAlta acquisitions add two natural gas-fired peaking facilities totaling 318 MW, with 100% contracted tolling agreements to investment-grade customers for 25+ years. The Mountain Peak Power and Canyon Peak Power acquisition expands TransAlta’s contracted energy generation footprint in CO acquisitions across Colorado’s Western U.S. market. This strategic add on acquisition is paired with a concurrent $350 million bought deal common share offering, including a 15% over-allotment option, and includes assumed debt and equity components.
