Mountain Peak Power and Canyon Peak Power Acquired by TransAlta | Energy M&A Deal

TransAlta has acquired Mountain Peak Power and Canyon Peak Power, a energy services other business in Colorado, for $1.0 billion. TransAlta acquisitions add two natural gas-fired peaking facilities totaling 318 MW, expanding contracted generation capacity in Colorado with 25+ year tolling agreements. Mountain Peak Power and Canyon Peak Power acquisition strengthens TransAlta’s Western U.S. footprint and supports low-risk, high-quality contracted cash flows. The strategic add on acquisition is paired with a concurrent $350 million bought deal common share offering, including a 15% over-allotment option, and includes assumed debt and equity funding components.
