Deal Overview

GCI Liberty has completed the acquisition of Quintillion - Broadband Communities, a telecom fiber business in Alaska, for $310 million. Quintillion operates more than 1,800 miles of existing subsea and terrestrial fiber and is building about 1,500 miles of planned expansion, supporting rural and statewide connectivity needs in AK. GCI Liberty, a strategic telecom network operator, will combine Quintillion’s routes with its Alaska network to strengthen reliability through routing diversity and ringed self-healing architecture. The technology M&A is structured as a merger acquisition with regulatory approval and customary closing conditions, and includes up to $50 million in reimbursed qualifying capex tied to the Nome-to-Homer Express project plus potential earnout payments in 2028, 2029, and 2031. Shortly after signing, GCI, LLC agreed to provide a $160 million unsecured loan to Quintillion as part of the strategic acquisition.
