Webster Financial Acquired by Banco Santander | Financial Services M&A Deal

Banco Santander has agreed to acquire Webster Financial, a banking business in New York, for $11 billion. Webster Financial is a regional bank that provides commercial and consumer banking services, strengthening Banco Santander acquisitions in NY acquisitions and financial services deals NY. Banco Santander is also building its digital bank footprint in the United States, adding $11 billion of deposits since launching in fall 2024. The merger acquisition is a strategic acquisition by a banking acquisition buyer type, with regulatory approval pending and an expected close in the second half of 2026.
