NN, Inc. (NASDAQ: NNBR) has acquired large-scale automated plating operations from a leading electrical infrastructure solutions provider. The seller is an existing customer shifting from in-house manufacturing to outsourced production.
NN expects the automated plating line to be operational at an existing facility in fall 2026. The equipment will expand processing capabilities in silver-plated busbars and terminals and is described as substantially larger and more automated than NN’s current plating capabilities, including large plating baths for high-volume, low-cost production.
NN targets electric grid equipment and data center equipment, initially focusing on switchgear assemblies used in emergency power generation for the grid, hospitals, and data centers. NN said the new business won from this line is inclusive of its 2026 guidance of $70 million to $80 million of new business wins, and the related capex is inclusive of its $20 million to $22 million 2026 capex guidance. The company will fund the addition from operating cash flow.
