TransUnion to Acquire RealNetworks Mobile Division

TransUnion has signed a definitive agreement to acquire the mobile division of RealNetworks. The deal is designed to strengthen TransUnion’s communications solutions portfolio and expand fraud prevention capabilities.

TransUnion expects the mobile division to augment its voice-channel capabilities with messaging and real-time analytics of text, multimedia messages, and phone calls, using AI and machine learning to reduce fraud and improve customer engagement. RealNetworks’ mobile team and its KONTXT messaging platform are expected to contribute technology that has blocked delivery of over eight billion spam and scam messages. The acquisition is also expected to bring telecom relationships and network integration experience.

TransUnion plans to integrate the technology to offer a broader suite of voice, messaging, and analytics tools across financial services, insurance, healthcare, public sector, telecommunications, and other industries.
