Brown-Forman has ended merger talks with Pernod Ricard, a consumer other business in Illinois. Pernod Ricard is a global spirits producer with brands including Absolut vodka and Malibu rum, alongside Jameson whiskey and Beefeater London. Brown-Forman, a strategic buyer and Jack Daniel’s owner, sought a merger acquisition to expand its geographic footprint and strengthen consumer-facing brands in IL acquisitions. The consumer M&A effort was structured as a merger acquisition but was terminated after the parties could not reach mutually agreeable terms, leaving the proposed Brown-Forman acquires Pernod Ricard strategic acquisition off the table.
