NRG Energy Energy Acquisition | M&A Deal

Announced
EnergyTexasPlatform

Deal Overview

NRG Energy has completed the acquisition of TH Wharton, a utility services business in Texas, for $216 million. The 415-MW simple-cycle gas plant expansion adds firm generation capacity in Houston to support rising ERCOT load and data center demand. NRG Energy acquisitions in Texas also expand its gas-heavy portfolio and strengthen dispatchable power supply through state-backed financing. The platform acquisition is a strategic acquisition by a strategic buyer, backed by the Texas Energy Fund with below-market loan terms, and is expected to be completed later this month.
