LayerX Acquired by Akamai Technologies | Technology M&A Deal

Announced
TechnologyAdd-on

Deal Overview

Akamai Technologies has acquired LayerX, a cybersecurity business in Tel Aviv, for approximately $205 million. LayerX provides browser-based AI usage control and secure enterprise browser technology that delivers visibility and governance over employee interactions with generative AI applications, SaaS AI tools, and AI agents. Akamai Technologies acquisitions aim to extend Zero Trust protections into the browser layer without forcing customers to switch from widely used commercial browsers, supporting agentic browser platforms such as Atlas and Comet. The LayerX acquisition is an add-on acquisition by a strategic buyer, expected to close in Q3 2026, subject to customary conditions, and is projected to dilute Akamai’s fiscal 2026 non-GAAP EPS by about $0.12 while LayerX targets roughly $10 million in annual recurring revenue by end of 2026.
