Meta has acquired Manus, a enterprise software business in China, for $2 billion. Manus builds an agentic AI platform that helps users complete tasks like web browsing, planning, and tool-based execution for real-world workflows. Meta acquisitions aimed to integrate Manus’ general AI agent into Meta’s Ads Manager and advertiser tooling across Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and WhatsApp. The merger acquisition was terminated after Chinese regulators blocked the Manus acquisition on national security grounds and ordered unwinding following months of scrutiny.
