TechnologyGeorgiaAdd-on

Deal Overview

Home Depot has acquired warehouse technology company Simpl Automation to strengthen its distribution-center speed and efficiency. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Simpl Automation provides automated storage and retrieval systems for goods-to-person and person-to-goods workflows, including vertical lift modules for high-density storage. Home Depot’s pilot of the technology at its Locust Grove, Georgia distribution center produced faster pick speeds and cycle times, along with fewer product touches.

Home Depot expects the acquisition to support same-day and next-day fulfillment and improve worker safety, while enabling a broader assortment of high-demand products to be positioned closer to customers.
