Close: pricing, features and alternatives

Sales CRM with calling, SMS, email and workflows built in, plus Chloe, an AI agent that calls and qualifies leads on usage credits.

Researched by the Tentt team · draft awaiting expert review · Updated

Close is a sales CRM with built-in calling, SMS, email, a power dialer and automated workflows, aimed at small and mid-sized teams doing high-volume outreach. As of October 2026 Close's pricing page lists Solo at $9 per user a month and Growth at $99 on annual billing ($19 and $109 monthly), with a 14-day free trial.

What does Close do?

  • Keeps leads (companies), contacts and opportunities with calls, emails and SMS logged on one timeline, plus a centralised inbox and task list from Essentials upward.
  • Places and records calls and SMS from the CRM, with usage passed through at cost (most outbound calls around $0.02 a minute, numbers from about $1 a month); Growth adds a power dialer and Scale a predictive dialer and live call coaching.
  • Runs automated workflows and bulk email from Growth upward; Solo and Essentials do not include workflows.
  • Includes Chloe, an AI agent that calls leads, qualifies them, books meetings and updates records, billed against AI credits (500 per user a month on Solo up to 2,000 on Scale).
  • Exposes an API with an event log on every plan, rate-limited per endpoint group, with an organisation-wide limit 3 times the per-API-key limit.

Where does Close fit in a GTM engineering stack?

Close is the CRM and calling layer in a GTM engineering stack: Clay writes enriched leads and contacts into it and can enrol them straight into Close sequences, while reps or Chloe work the calls.

  1. 1Clay imports existing Close contacts or looks up leads to avoid duplicates
  2. 2Clay enriches new accounts and finds phone numbers and work emails through a provider waterfall
  3. 3Create Lead and Create Contact write the enriched records into Close
  4. 4Subscribe to Sequence enrols each contact in an existing Close sequence
  5. 5Calls, SMS and replies log on the lead timeline for reps to follow up

Who is Close best for?

A good fit if you

  • Inside sales teams whose day is calls and follow-ups, since dialers, SMS and recording are native rather than bolt-ons.
  • GTM engineers who want CRM writes plus sequence enrolment from Clay: Clay's Close actions include Subscribe to Sequence as well as lead and contact create and update.
  • Small teams that want API access on the cheapest plan: Close's comparison table lists API access and the event log on Solo through Scale.

Look elsewhere if you

  • Teams that need workflows on a small budget: automated workflows start at Growth ($99 per user a month annually).
  • Buyers who need EU data residency spelled out: Close's GDPR page relies on Standard Contractual Clauses and names AWS as a key sub-processor, but does not state a hosting region.
  • Organisations that want role-based permissions and lead visibility rules below the top tier, as both are listed on Scale.

Does Close integrate with Clay and your CRM?

Clay
Native Clay integration. Clay lists Close as a Clay-built integration on Growth and above, with every action needing your own Close account. Clay reads with Import Contacts and Lookup Object (leads or contacts), and writes with Create Lead, Create Contact, Update Lead, Update Contact and Subscribe to Sequence, which enrols a Close contact in an existing Close sequence. (source)
Integrations
Close's integrations directory lists Gmail, Microsoft 365, Zoom, Calendly, HubSpot, Segment, Fivetran, Zapier, Make, Clay, Findymail, Claude and ChatGPT among others, and API access is included on every plan. (source)
GDPR
Close's GDPR page says it meets both controller and processor obligations and offers a Data Processing Agreement (dated 7 February 2023) to any customer, including Standard Contractual Clauses for transfers outside the EEA. It names Amazon Web Services as a key sub-processor and says a lead deleted in Close is fully removed from its systems, including the Event Log API, within 30 days. Close states it is SOC 2 Type 2 compliant. (source)

Close FAQs

Does Close have a public API on every plan?

Yes. Close's plan comparison lists API access and the event log as included on Solo, Essentials, Growth and Scale. Requests are rate-limited per endpoint group, and after a 429 response Close asks you to pause for the number of seconds in the rate_reset value.

How are Close API rate limits applied?

Close enforces limits at the organisation level across all users' API keys, plus a lower limit per key so one heavy integration does not throttle others. The organisation limit is currently 3 times the per-key limit, and the RateLimit response header reports the limit, requests remaining and seconds to reset.

Can Clay enrol leads into a Close sequence?

Yes. Clay's Subscribe to Sequence action adds a Close contact to a predefined Close sequence, so a Clay table can create or update the lead and start outreach in one pass. The sequence itself must already exist in Close.

What are Close AI credits used for?

Close AI credits pay for Chloe, Close's AI sales agent, and other AI features such as enrichment and Chloe in workflows. Each plan includes a monthly allowance per user, from 500 on Solo to 2,000 on Scale, and Chloe's calls also use telephony charged at cost.

How does Close handle GDPR deletion requests?

Close says that when you delete a lead, its information is completely removed from Close's systems within 30 days, including the Event Log API. Requests to remove a whole account's data go to Close support.
