Hunter: pricing, features and alternatives

Email finder, domain search and verifier built on public web sources, with a B2B database, signals and built-in cold email sequences.

Researched by the Tentt team · draft awaiting expert review · Updated

Hunter finds and verifies professional emails from public web sources: 1 credit per email found and 0.5 per verification. It claims 150M indexed addresses. As of October 2026 the free plan gives 50 credits a month, and Starter is £41 a month or £28 a month billed yearly for 2,000 credits.

What does Hunter do?

  • Domain Search lists the public email addresses at a company domain, with the web sources each was found on; Bulk Domain Search charges 1 credit per 10 emails.
  • Email Finder returns a person's address from name and domain for 1 credit, and flags whether the result is a pattern guess or has public sources.
  • Email Verifier checks deliverability for 0.5 credits; failed verifications, disposable addresses and repeat lookups in the same billing period are not charged again.
  • Discover searches Hunter's B2B database with an AI assistant (30 to 900 AI searches a month by plan) and flags signals from your existing leads.
  • Sends cold email sequences from 1 to 20 connected inboxes depending on plan, with 500 to 15,000 recipients per sequence.
  • Removes contact data that no longer has a public source after six months, and lets people claim and remove their address.

Where does Hunter fit in a GTM engineering stack?

Hunter is the public-source email step in a GTM engineering stack: it finds addresses that appear on the open web, verifies them, and can send the first sequence itself.

  1. 1Clay builds a list of target domains from a signal or account list
  2. 2Hunter Find Emails by Company pulls public addresses, filtered by department
  3. 3Rows with only a name run Hunter Find Work Email, then fall through to Findymail
  4. 4Verified contacts go to lemlist or Instantly, or into Hunter Sequences

Who is Hunter best for?

A good fit if you

  • Finding emails at small and mid-sized companies whose staff addresses appear on their own websites, since every result shows its public source.
  • Bulk-verifying lists cheaply at 0.5 credits per check, with no charge for failed verifications.
  • Clay waterfalls that want a domain-level search step: Clay's Find Emails by Company action returns public addresses with optional department filtering.
  • Solo founders who want finding and sending in one tool, with unlimited team members on every plan.

Look elsewhere if you

  • Mobile numbers or direct dials; Hunter's credits cover emails found and verified only.
  • People with little web footprint, because Hunter's index is built from public web pages.
  • Banking credits: on monthly plans credits reset each month and do not roll over.
  • Teams needing an API-only commitment at small volume: the Data Platform example is $6,500 for 1,000 search and 200,000 verification credits.

Does Hunter integrate with Clay and your CRM?

Clay
Native Clay integration. Clay lists a Clay-built Hunter integration with three actions: Find Emails by Company (public addresses at a domain, with optional department filter), Find Work Email (name plus domain) and Verify Email. Each runs on Clay credits or your own Hunter account. Available on all Clay plans. (source)
Integrations
Hunter lists native HubSpot, Salesforce, Pipedrive and Zoho CRM integrations (Close and Copper via Zapier); Gmail, Outlook and SMTP/IMAP for sequences; Google Sheets; Zapier, Make and Clay; Snowflake; an MCP server with Claude, ChatGPT and Gemini; and third-party connectors including Phantombuster and Woodpecker. (source)
GDPR
Hunter's GDPR article says it is a controller for its own service data and a processor for data you import, that accepting its Terms of Use includes a DPA (signed copies via privacy@hunter.io), and that its main servers run on Google Cloud in Belgium with non-EEA sub-processors covered by Standard Contractual Clauses. Bulk results are rechecked and contacts who have claimed their address or joined a legal do-not-contact list are removed within about a month. No certifications are named in the article. (source)
Data coverage
Hunter says it has indexed 150M professional email addresses from 650M public data sources and crawls 30M web pages a day. Data distributed through Hunter has disclosed public sources, and contact or company information without a current public source is removed after six months. Its crawler follows robots.txt. These are vendor claims. (source)

Hunter FAQs

Where does Hunter find email addresses?

Hunter crawls public web pages, about 30M a day by its own figures, and indexes addresses it finds along with the source URL. Email Finder results show whether an address has public sources or is a pattern-based guess. Data with no remaining public source is removed after six months.

Does Hunter charge for repeat searches?

No, Hunter counts a repeated search or verification only once per billing period. Failed verifications and disposable addresses also do not use credits. This matters when a Clay table reruns the same rows.

Can Hunter send cold emails?

Yes, Hunter Sequences sends from connected Gmail, Outlook or SMTP/IMAP inboxes, with 1 inbox on Free up to 20 on Scale. It includes A/B testing, inbox rotation and a custom tracking domain. Extra inboxes cost from £8 a month each.

Is Hunter data GDPR compliant?

Hunter says it acts as a processor for lists you import, includes a DPA in its Terms of Use and hosts its main servers in Belgium. It removes contacts who claim their address or join a legal do-not-contact list from bulk results within about a month. You still need a lawful basis to email EU contacts.

What is Hunter's Data Platform?

Hunter Data Platform is API-only access to email finding and verification, bought as a block of Search and Verification credits that last 12 months. The pricing page's example is $6,500 for 1,000 Search and 200,000 Verification credits. It is separate from the seat plans.
