BetterContact: pricing, features and alternatives

Waterfall enrichment that checks 20+ vendors for a contact's email and mobile, verifies them, and bills only for valid results.

Researched by the Tentt team · draft awaiting expert review · Updated

BetterContact is a waterfall enrichment tool that checks 20+ data vendors in sequence for a contact's work email and mobile number, verifies what it finds, and charges only for valid data. As of October 2026 Starter costs $15 a month for 200 credits and Pro starts at $49 a month for 1,000 credits.

What does BetterContact do?

  • Runs a waterfall across the 20 vendors it names on its trusted-providers page, including Hunter, Icypeas, Datagma, RocketReach, People Data Labs, Wiza and LeadMagic, and stops at the first verified hit.
  • Verifies emails with Bouncer on every plan and adds catch-all verification and mobile phone verification on Pro, at 1 credit per email and 10 credits per mobile.
  • Searches for net-new leads through Lead Finder, which BetterContact says combines 7+ databases, with company filters (headcount, technologies, funding, hiring) and people filters (title, seniority, department).
  • Scores mobile numbers with Connect Intelligence on Pro, which BetterContact says sorts numbers into propensity buckets so you dial the ones most likely to connect.
  • Exposes an asynchronous REST API that accepts batches of up to 100 leads per request and returns results by polling or to a webhook you supply.
  • Lets you remove specific vendors from the waterfall for your account, which matters if your legal team has excluded certain data sources.

Where does BetterContact fit in a GTM engineering stack?

BetterContact is the outsourced waterfall step in a GTM engineering stack: instead of wiring each email and phone vendor into Clay yourself, you send one request and it walks 20+ vendors and verifies the result.

  1. 1Clay or n8n collects contacts with first name, last name and company domain, or a LinkedIn URL
  2. 2A BetterContact batch of up to 100 leads goes to the async API with a webhook URL
  3. 3BetterContact tries vendors in order, verifies the email with Bouncer, and flags catch-alls as safe or not safe
  4. 4The webhook returns verified emails and mobiles to Clay, HubSpot or Salesforce
  5. 5Verified contacts route to Smartlead, Instantly or lemlist, and scored mobiles to the dialler

Who is BetterContact best for?

A good fit if you

  • Teams that want one waterfall contract instead of separate accounts with a dozen email and phone vendors.
  • Budget-conscious testing: the $15 Starter plan and 50 free signup credits make it cheap to measure find rates on your own list.
  • Clay users who want a waterfall-of-waterfalls step, since Clay lists BetterContact's Find Work Email and Find Mobile Phone actions on Clay credits or your own account.
  • Phone-heavy outbound teams using Nooks or Orum, because BetterContact names both diallers on its homepage and adds connect-propensity scoring on Pro.

Look elsewhere if you

  • Teams who need full provenance for every record, because results come from 20 third-party vendors and compliance depends on each of them.
  • Starter-plan users expecting Clay or Zapier access: BetterContact's pricing page lists those integrations under Pro.
  • Anyone wanting to plug in their own vendor API keys on a self-serve plan, since bring-your-own-keys is listed only on Enterprise (from $799 a month).
  • Teams that need a large searchable prospect database as the main product; Lead Finder exists, but enrichment is the core.

Does BetterContact integrate with Clay and your CRM?

Clay
Native Clay integration. Clay lists a Clay-built BetterContact integration with three actions: Find Work Email, Find Mobile Phone (name plus company domain or name, with a profile URL improving accuracy) and Find People. The email and mobile actions run on Clay credits or your own BetterContact account; Find People runs on Clay credits only. Clay does not list per-action credit costs. (source)
Integrations
BetterContact's integrations page lists bidirectional HubSpot and Salesforce (Apex-native package); lemlist, Smartlead and Instantly; Clay, Zapier, Make and n8n; Google Sheets and Airtable; plus REST API, webhooks and CSV upload. Its homepage also names Nooks and Orum diallers. It claims 28 native integrations but names fewer. (source)
GDPR
BetterContact is a French company (BETTERCONTACT SAS, Paris) that describes itself as GDPR and CCPA compliant with EU data residency. Its DPA makes the customer the controller and BetterContact the processor, lists AWS and Heroku (EU servers) and PostHog as sub-processors, and says data is deleted at the end of the contract. It links each upstream vendor's own GDPR page and can remove vendors per account. No SOC 2 or ISO certification is mentioned. (source)
Data coverage
BetterContact says its waterfall draws on 20+ providers and its Lead Finder on 7+ databases, and claims 545M+ data points. It also says 36.3% of provider data fails its verification. Its trusted-providers page names 20 vendors: Enrow, Icypeas, Hunter, Datagma, Trestle, Forager, SocieteInfo, AnymailFinder, RocketReach, FinalScout, People Data Labs, Snov, Kendo, Smarte, Bouncer, Wiza, Cleon1, Pipl, LeadMagic and ZeroBounce. These are vendor claims. (source)

BetterContact FAQs

Is BetterContact worth it if I already have a Clay waterfall?

BetterContact can replace part of a Clay waterfall with one action, which reduces the number of vendor columns you maintain. The trade-off is less control over vendor order, since BetterContact sets the sequence unless you remove vendors from your account. Compare cost per found email on the same sample list before switching.

Which vendors does BetterContact use in its waterfall?

BetterContact publishes 20 named vendors on its trusted-providers page, including Hunter, Icypeas, Datagma, RocketReach, People Data Labs, Wiza, LeadMagic and ZeroBounce. Each listing links to that vendor's own GDPR or privacy page. BetterContact says it can exclude specific vendors for an individual account.

How does the BetterContact API return results?

BetterContact's enrichment API is asynchronous: you POST up to 100 leads, get a request ID, then poll or receive results at a webhook. Results are final only when the status reads 'terminated', not just on a 2xx response. LinkedIn URL is the most reliable input, otherwise first name, last name and company domain together.

Does BetterContact handle catch-all email domains?

Yes, BetterContact's Pro plan includes catch-all verification at no extra charge. Through the API you set verify_catch_all to true and each catch-all address comes back as catch_all_safe or catch_all_not_safe. That label helps you decide which addresses to send to, rather than sending to every catch-all blindly.

Where is BetterContact data processed?

BetterContact's DPA lists AWS and Heroku with servers in the EU, plus PostHog for product analytics under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. The company is registered in France. Upstream vendors process data under their own terms, which BetterContact links from its trusted-providers page.
